Stan R. Weller founder of The Weller Law Firm, is a practicing attorney in the Southern Illinois/Metro East St. Louis area. Attorney Weller practices primarily in the areas of family law, bankruptcy, wills and civil litigation. His family law practice includes issues in; divorce, custody, visitation, child support, protective orders, adoption and all other family related matters. He has served as guardian ad litem and mediator for numerous years, and has prosecuted and defended a multitude of contested custody matters.
Before starting his own law firm, Stan R. Weller worked a number of years in private firms, as well as a period with the Illinois Attorney General’s office working in the Sexually Violent Persons Unit.
Stan R. Weller received his Juris Doctorate degree from the Southern Illinois University of Carbondale in 1998 and Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1992. He is a founding member of the Bankruptcy Association of Southern Illinois (BASIL) and has been a featured speaker at the annual BASIL conference. He is also a member of numerous other legal and professional organizations.
A published author, Stan R. Weller has contributed to the nationally released book “Understanding the Effects of BAPCPA” publication for bankruptcy practitioners discussing the effects and transitions arising from the 2005 changes to the Bankruptcy Code. He also wrote a book aimed at helping other divorce lawyers, titled “Marital Settlement and Joint Parenting Agreements Line by Line.”
This book has been used across the nation by attorneys preparing comprehensive orders and settlements for their own clients. In addition he shares his invaluable insight on child custody cases in an informative book called, “Preparing for a Child Custody Trial: What You Need to Know.” Written in a language that is accessible to all, the book guides readers through the steps of a case, helps prepare for trial and explains the importance of certain evidence.
