The Law Offices of Scott Stone PLLC, located in East Rockaway, has been serving the New York City Metropolitan area, Long Island and the lower Hudson Valley since 1993.

Scott Stone Attorney formed his own law firm in 1993. He was admitted to the Bar in New York (1993), Connecticut (1992) and the District of Columbia (1993), Scott is also admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court, and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
Scott has many years of experience in commercial and residential real estate transactions, as well as business and corporate transactions. He represents and advises clients throughout New York State through the many stages of the transaction process from contract signing though closing and post-closing. Scott has also represented banks, mortgage lenders and brokers in mortgage refinance and purchase closings. In the past, Scott has served as attorney and transfer agent to cooperative apartments located in the New York City Metropolitan Area.
For more than 20 years, Scott has served as an attorney and General Counsel to Unified Window Systems, Inc. He has also represented many other corporations, not-for-profit corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships and other business entities related to the formation, transactions and legal representation required in their normal operation in the State of New York. With extensive experience in tax certiorari and real property assessment, Scott has represented homeowners and property owners throughout New York State for more than 18 years challenging property taxes on commercial and residential real property.
Since 2008, Scott has also served as Tax Certiorari Counsel to the Incorporated Village of Farmingdale, representing the Village in all issues involving commercial tax certiorari matters. Scott also serves as Special Counsel to the Village of Cedarhurst in certain tax certiorari matters. From 2006–2020, Scott served as Special Counsel to the City of Glen Cove for Commercial Tax Certiorari matters. Throughout the years, Scott has also assisted other village attorneys in representing their municipalities with respect to commercial and residential property tax challenges.
Scott also serves as a Referee for the New York State Supreme Court in the foreclosure part.
Scott is proud to have been mentored by New York State Supreme Court Judge Howard T. Hogan and the Honorable H.T. Hogan Jr., Esq., and now serves as a Partner at their firm, Hogan & Hogan in Locust Valley, where he has represented clients on behalf of the firm since 1994.
Before starting his firm, Scott worked at the Nassau County Department of Assessment for eight years representing the County’s interests in commercial and residential tax certiorari proceedings and negotiations as well as small claims assessment review proceedings.
Scott received his J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law in 1992 and A.B. in Political Science and Newspaper Journalism from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication, Cum Laude, in 1989.
Scott has belonged to numerous professional associations including the Nassau County Bar Association’s Condemnation Law & Tax Certiorari Committee and Speaker’s Bureau, the Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, the Volunteer Lawyers Project, and Society of Professional Journalists, as well as the Advisory Board to the Jazz Composers Collective, a musician-run, non-profit corporation located in New York that was dedicated to presenting original music. Scott has also served as counsel to the Historical Society of East Rockaway & Lynbrook, a NYS Not-For-Profit Corporation, since its formation.
Scott has also been active in his community as coach and sponsor for North Bellmore-North Merrick Little League Softball and East Rockaway High School Senior Seminar Internship Program, as well as given lectures on property tax issues for veterans and other civic groups. Scott is also on the Board of Trustees of Congregation Shaaray Shalom in West Hempstead.
In September 2014, Scott was awarded Pro Bono Attorney of the Month by the Nassau County Bar Association for his work in landlord tenant court on behalf of the Volunteer Lawyers Project. Scott was also named as a Top Pro Bono Honoree for 2014-2018, and 2021 by the Nassau County Bar Association and has been nominated for the New York State Bar Association 2021 President’s Pro Bono Service Award for the Tenth Judicial District.
Scott Stone resides in Bellmore with his wife Elyse, two daughters Maya and Dana, and two dogs, Kramer and Chestnut.
