For more than 34 years, Robert O. Kurth has been in the trenches of Nevada’s legal system, representing people from all walks of life and gaining the courtroom, judicial and dispute-resolution experience that he believes is essential for a District Court judge. Now, he is putting that experience to work in his campaign for District Court Judge, Department 13.

Raised in the Las Vegas Valley, Robert Kurth has deep roots in the community he and his family have called home for decades. Since 1996, he has practiced with the Kurth Law Office and has represented clients in a broad range of legal matters, including civil litigation, family law, criminal law, personal injury, business law, probate, estate planning, real estate, guardianship, juvenile matters and more. He has been admitted to practice before Nevada’s state courts as well as federal courts in Nevada and Utah.

But his experience extends well beyond serving as an advocate for clients. For 25 years, beginning in 2001, Kurth served as an arbitrator for the Eighth Judicial District Court. He is also a former pro tem Child Support Hearing Master, former pro tem Small Claims Court Judge, and a trained mediator. These roles have given him firsthand experience with the responsibilities involved in resolving disputes and applying the law fairly to the people who come before the court.

Kurth also brings experience as an educator. From 2017 through 2023, he served as an adjunct professor in legal studies at Northwest Career College, teaching within its criminal justice and paralegal programs. Earlier in his career, he worked as a law clerk for the Clark County District Attorney’s Office and was a student editor for Family Law Quarterly.

As a candidate for District Court Judge, Department 13, Kurth says his judicial philosophy is straightforward: listen to the people who come before the court, respect their rights, uphold the Constitution, and apply the law fairly and justly.

His campaign emphasizes a commitment to being tough on crime while protecting families, maintaining courtroom courtesy and fairness, and ensuring that decisions are based on the law and the facts rather than personal agendas. Kurth has stated that he will not legislate from the bench.

With decades of experience handling complex disputes, Robert O. Kurth understands that a courtroom decision can have a profound impact on individuals, families and businesses. Kurth’s commitment to Las Vegas extends beyond the courtroom. Raised in the Las Vegas Valley, he has spent years involved in youth programs and community organizations. He is a former president of the Sagebrush Youth Soccer League and has coached youth soccer and football. He has also served as a Webelos leader, assistant scoutmaster and merit badge counselor with the Boy Scouts of America.

He has participated in juvenile diversion efforts through the Clark County Bar Association, advised high school mock trial competitions and served on the Board of the Las Vegas Zoological Society. His campaign website also notes his involvement in church and leadership programs.

Robert O. Kurth is married and has four children and five grandchildren. His family and community involvement have remained important parts of his life throughout his legal career.
