Lawrence Berwitz has been practicing law since 1979. His practice concentrates in the in the areas of wills and trusts, estate planning, elder law, probate and trust administration, guardianships and special needs planning. He is admitted to practice law before all of the courts in the State of New York, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the Second Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals. Mr. Berwitz has been a guest speaker on the radio, lectured at continuing education courses for attorneys and accountants and authored articles on issues concerning estate and retirement distribution planning, asset preservation and Medicaid planning, Surrogate’s Court practice and elder law. He is a former chair of the Elder Law, Social Services & Health Advocacy Committee and current vice chair of the Surrogate’s Court Estates and Trusts Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association. Lawrence is a member of the comparable committees of the New York State Bar Association. He is also a Mediator in the areas of elder law and trusts and estates. Lawrence graduated cum laude from the State University of New York at Albany and received his J.D. from St. John’s University. He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law, the Nassau County Bar Association, Queens County Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, and the Estate Planning Council of Nassau, Inc.
