After being licensed to practice law in 1997, Diana M. Duffy spent nearly four years working with the NYSARC Inc. Guardianship Program, where she tirelessly advocated for wards with developmental disabilities living in the five boroughs of New York City. Her responsibilities included researching medical consents, assisting with trust disbursements from supplemental needs trusts, and investigating reportable incidents involving these wards. Diana also played a key role in filing Article 17-A guardianship petitions for the legal services unit of the agency, demonstrating her commitment to protecting the rights and well-being of vulnerable individuals.
In 2001, Diana transitioned to a small firm focusing on probate and estate administration as well as nursing home Medicaid. During her time at the firm, she successfully assisted executors and administrators in managing estates by gathering assets, paying creditors, and making distributions. Additionally, Diana gained expertise in obtaining nursing home Medicaid benefits for clients, including spouses, children, or next of kin of the Medicaid applicant. Her dedication to helping families navigate complex legal processes during difficult times solidified her reputation as a trusted advisor in matters of estate planning and long-term care.
In 2013, Diana decided to start her own firm with a primary focus on elder law. Over the years, she has honed her skills in drafting wills and handling probate matters with precision and care. This specialization allows Diana to provide tailored legal solutions that meet the unique needs of each client while ensuring their wishes are carried out effectively. With a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and a B.S. from Marymount Manhattan College under her belt, Diana’s educational background complements her practical experience in serving individuals and families across New York State.
