Ronald E. Osman is the founder, President, and Senior Partner of the law office of Ronald E. Osman & Associates, Ltd. , in Marion, Illinois, which was established in 1979. His firm concentrates on actions brought under the Federal False Claims Act as well as actions concerning commercial law and personal injury. Ronald has represented numerous individuals in civil actions against federal contractors and medical providers brought under the Federal False Claims Act and related state statutes for the submission of false claims for payment by the Government, resulting in recovery of over $500 Million for Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal heath insurance programs. He has also defended numerous farmers from complex patent infringement claims brought by seed companies such as Monsanto Company and Growmark, Inc., and represented numerous farmers in claims against those same type companies for price-fixing, improper packaging, improper marketing, and other issues relating to seed.
Mr. Osman has frequently been called upon to provide expert testimony regarding the Federal False Claims Act before both the United States Senate and Federal Courts. He has also been actively involved in drafting and modifying both federal and State legislation, including, but not limited to the Federal False Claims Act, liability Standards for Medicare Contracts, and the Illinois Hydraulic Fracturing Regulatory Act. He is currently involved in lobbying efforts with the United States Department of Health and Human Services and Federal Drug Administration in relation to standards for use in testing and approving cancer treatments methods.
After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture/Economics from the University of Illinois in 1968, Mr. Osman joined the United States Marine Corp, where he served as Commanding Officer of Artillery Battery and Headquarters Company form 1970 to 1971 and received an Officer of the Deck qualification from the United States Navy. In 1976, Mr. Osman began law school at Southern Illinois University and completed his law degree in two and one half years.
Since receiving his Juris Doctorate in 1979, Mr. Osman has been actively engaged in the practice of law, both pursuing and defending actions of all types.
Ronald E. Osman & Associates, Ltd. operates a nationwide practice, with Mr. Osman and its other attorneys being admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois and numerous federal courts throughout the United States. Mr. Osman is a member of the Illinois Bar Association, Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, and National Health Lawyers Association. He also serves as a Member of the Board of Dongola Clinic and is a Founding Member of Rural Health, Inc.
Mr. Osman married Michelle Overlin after his discharge from the United States Marine Corp. He and Michelle have two children: Christopher Blane, an attorney practicing with Ronald E. Osman & Associates, Ltd. in Marion, Illinois, who has three children, and Christina Blake, an attorney working as General Counsel for Quantix in Louisville, Kentucky, who has two children.
