William T. (Tom) Edwards, Jr., founder at the firm has been practicing law for over three decades. Tom is admitted to practice before all Courts in the State of Florida, the United States District Court – Middle District of Florida, the United States Tax Court and the United States Claims Court. He has assisted individuals, businesses and organizations with their legal management and legal services needs. Tom’s practice is primarily devoted to estate planning, trust administration, asset protection, and probate. The Edwards Law Firm, with Tom at its helm, has evolved in the last decade to include such vital elder law issues as Medicaid planning, VA planning, guardianship and more.

After working as an associate at a small law firm, Tom gave in to his entrepreneurial side and started his own law practice in Northeast Florida. What began with one office, one attorney and no support staff has grown into three locations, two attorneys and a team of excellent and professional support. As your attorney, Tom will work with you to develop a comprehensive plan to address your legal needs, integrating your values and vision to help you achieve your goals.

Tom earned his Juris Doctor from The Florida State University College of Law in 1980. He is a member of The Florida Bar and the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section and the Elder Law Section of The Florida Bar; the American Bar Association and the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the American Bar Association; and, the Jacksonville, Clay County and St. Johns County Bar Associations.  From 2009 thru 2012 Mr. Edwards served on the Board of Governors of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys and previously served on the Academy’s Education Advisory Board. He remains an executive member of the Academy.

Perhaps most important, Tom and The Edwards Law Firm team believe in education. Education is key. Not only does Tom continue his own legal education, garnering nearly 40 hours each year in legal courses specific to estate planning, trust administration, probate and elder law, Tom believes in educating the public.
