Founder, Rachel Y. Marshall, Esq., is a proven advocate and skillful negotiator. As a high-energy leader with over twenty plus years of legal experience she brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her clients. She has tried over one hundred civil and criminal cases and handled over $250 million in residential and commercial real estate transactions.
Among her range of cases, Rachel Y. Marshall has represented individuals and property owners charged with environmental violations, landlord and tenant matters, religious organizations in civil disputes before zoning boards. Notably, she has successfully lobbied and orchestrated a forty-year tax abatement for the renovation and construction of an affordable housing apartment complex.
Rachel Y. Marshall is passionate about continuing to educate the community about legal rights and opportunities for growth including affordable housing and home ownership. She has worked in Essex and Monmouth County with affordable housing developers and buyers.
Rachel also donates her time and services to causes she is passionate about and is actively engaged in community projects, committees, and speaking engagements, including a frequent participant as a guest speaker for the National Action Network “Know Your Legal Rights” Knowledge Is Power, An In-Depth Discussion on Housing Issues and various Legal Matters; NAACP: participation in virtual Town Hall and Panel Discussions on such topics as Use-of-Force, Race and Housing Redlining; and Freedom Mortgage Company, Home Buyer Seminar, Topic: How to Buy Your First Home, or Your Next One! Rachel prides herself on treating others with decorum and on being approachable, humble, and congenial allowing her clients to foster comfortable and trusting attorney-client relationships.
Currently, she also serves as the Chief Municipal Public Defender for the City of Newark with a demonstration to ensure all parties receive justice and fairness regardless of economic and social status.
Rachel Y. Marshall received her Juris Doctorate from New York Law School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and Administration of Justice from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ.
Rachel Y. Marshall is admitted to both New Jersey and New York Bars, the District Court of NJ, US Court of Appeals 3rd Circuit, Legal Facilitator for the National Action Network NJ, member of New Jersey Bar Association, the New York Law School-Alumni Network, Rutgers Alumni Association, former Director of Community Relations for Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark, Former Commissioner for City of Newark’s Board of Adjustments. Rachel is an Adjunct Professor of Criminal Law at Union County College, Division of Social Sciences, Business and History.
As an experienced professional and educator, she enjoys mentoring young women in business and law. In addition to her professional work as an attorney, she is enthusiastic about community outreach, education, mentorship and her faith.
Rachel enjoys gardening, cooking, and the beach, however, her greatest joy more than anything else, is spending time with her daughter.
