James A. Reiman has over 40 plus years of experience as both an attorney and a businessperson. He currently serves as an arbitrator and mediator of complex domestic and international commercial disputes, and serves as a director on the board of directors of public and private companies. He has served as CEO of public and private companies in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and China.
Mr. Reiman also serves as a Faculty Member and Program Director of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators training/qualification programs. In that capacity, Mr. Reiman teaches and qualifies senior attorneys in international arbitration. He also teaches negotiation to senior executives, professionals, and government officials at universities (including the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School’s Oxford Programme on Negotiation) and through professional organizations.
James A. Reiman is the author of the book Negotiation Simplified – A Framework and Process for Understanding and Improving Negotiation Results, Amplify Publishing, Herndon, VA, 2021(www.NegotiationSimplifiedBook.com). He is also the author of numerous case notes and articles on domestic and international arbitration published by various legal journals.
James A. Reiman spent 18 years practicing law in Chicago, IL before moving to a position in e-commerce business management at a NASDAQ-listed fine collectibles auctioneer. He then took on the position of CEO of a failing chain of cell phone stores operating in Shanghai and other Chinese cities.
He effected a turn-around and restructuring of that business growing it from US$ 2.25 million to US$ 275+ million in annual revenue, from 35 to 250+ stores over 5 years and subsequent growth to 400+ stores, and taking the company public on the London Stock Exchange’s AIM Market in 2005. He later went on to serve as the Managing Member and CEO of Aerofficient LLC, a company that designed and manufactured aerodynamic enhancing devices for heavy duty trucks. In that capacity, Mr. Reiman co-invented technologies that were awarded 19 domestic and international patents.
James A. Reiman attended Columbia University earning his Bachelor of Arts degree. He then studied at Northwestern University Law School earning his Juris Doctor degree. He also completed the Advanced Executive Program at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.
