Erica Crohn Minchella is the managing partner of Minchella & Associates. She has practiced law for over 40 years in the areas of real estate, litigation and financial issues. She has maintained her Real Estate License for 30 years. Erica concentrates her time, talents and passion on assisting clients to be well-informed about their real estate decisions, whether they are buying a home or an investment, as well as helping them get out of debt and to build a solid financial future. Her field of expertise includes the spectrum of conventional and distressed real property issues for both residential and commercial properties, foreclosure defense, short sale transactions, sales out of decedent’s estates and personal and land trusts and counseling her clients in re-establishing their credit and becoming debt free and mortgage free. She also advises investors in need of exit strategies for real estate deals gone sour as well as those who see the current market as a great place to invest, as well as home buyers who are purchasing conventional and distressed real estate. She also handled mostly bankruptcy for the first eighteen years.
While she loves helping people move on with their home purchases and sales, Erica has a soft spot for people who are struggling with their real estate decisions. Erica is a graduate of Loyola University School of Law, J.D., she received her B.A. from the University of Illinois. She is a Member of the Justinian Society of Lawyers, Member of the Small Business Advocacy Council, and Member of the drafting committee for revisions to the Multi-Board Contract that northern Illinois attorneys use when closing real estate transactions.
She is the founder and president for the Association of Foreclosure Defense Attorneys, and is on the board of directors of the Illinois Real Estate Lawyers Association and the Illinois State Bar Association Real Estate Law Section Council.
In addition, Erica is an Instructor/presenter for the Illinois State Bar Association, Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education, Chicago Bar Association, Illinois Real Estate Institute, Lawline Continuing Legal Education, and Apex Continuing Legal Education. She is also a Columnist for the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin.
Erica is recognized as a Superlawyer for the years 2017 to 2021 and Leading Lawyer 2013-2021, she has been named one of the Top 10 Real Estate Lawyers in the state of Illinois by Leading Lawyer Publications in 2019, and holds the coveted AV Rating, by Martindale Hubble. Married for over 37 years, Erica shares office space with her husband and both of her children are involved in the family businesses.
