Gordon Gouveia was managing member of Gouveia & Associates. He had more than 50 years of legal experience in bankruptcy law. He was admitted to practice law in the state of Indiana, 1970. Mr. Gouveia is proud to have served as a Chapter 7 Trustee for the United States Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of Indiana, Hammond Division since 1979.
Mr. Gouveia has worked to resolve bankruptcy issues and debtor and creditor rights from multiple perspectives, not only as an attorney but also as a certified civil mediator for Indiana. His varied experience with bankruptcy issues allowed him to provide his clients with detailed, individualized legal advice to suit their unique situation.

Gordon E. Gouveia received his J.D. from Valparaiso University, 1970 and B.A. from Indiana University, 1967. He is currently Chairman of the Lake County Bar Association Bankruptcy Law Section and a member of the Standing Committee on Practice and Procedures, United States Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of Indiana. He is also a member of the Indiana State Bar Association, and Seventh Circuit Bar Association.
Mr. Gouveia was a member of the Indiana National Guard from 1963 to 1970. He was a graduate of the Indiana National Guard Military Academy, Class of 1965 and served as a commissioned reserve officer. He worked for the Equal Employment Commission as a staff attorney with the Gary Human Relations Commission from 1970 to 1973. He was an adjunct professor of law at Valparaiso University School of Law in 1997.
