Mr. Celli earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1976, following his undergraduate studies at Rutgers College, where he graduated with distinction in 1968. Before embarking on his legal career, he served as a Major in the U.S. Army, on active duty from 1969 to 1972 and in the reserves until 1990. His legal journey began as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Neil G. Duffy, J.S.C., Superior Court of New Jersey, Family Division, Essex County, from 1976 to 1977.
Mr. Celli is admitted to practice law in New Jersey (1976), the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey (1978), the District of Columbia (1981), the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court (1982). He is trained as an arbitrator and mediator by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, further enhancing his ability to resolve complex family law disputes. His areas of practice include matrimonial law and related matters, custody and adoptions, domestic violence cases, mediation and arbitration, appeals, and municipal court matters.
Mr. Celli has held numerous leadership roles and contributed significantly to the legal and local community. His service includes Judge of the Municipal Court, Township of East Hanover (1989-1993), member of the Zoning Board of Adjustment and Planning Board, East Hanover, Board of Trustees for The Calais School, Whippany (1987-2000), President of the Board of Trustees for the Legal Aid Society of Morris County (1993-1994), Master of the New Jersey Family Law Inn of Court and Worrall F. Mountain Inn of Court, and Secretary/Treasurer of the New Jersey Association of Matrimonial Arbitrators. He has also been an active member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, serving on the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section and various other committees, as well as the American Bar Association, Family Law Section.
