The Childers Law Firm specializes in personal injury, commercial and insurance defense. The firm serves clients throughout the State of Missouri. The majority of the firm’s practice is located in the central and southwest portion of Missouri. David A. Childers is the principal shareholder and the founding member of The Childers Law Firm. Mr. Childers has practiced law for 40 years in the State of Missouri, United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri United States Court of Appeals, 8th Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. In addition to his practice in Missouri, Mr. Childers has handled cases in 38 states and the District of Columbia. Mr. Childers concentrates his practice in the areas of insurance litigation to include construction litigation, tractor trailer litigation, catastrophic injury and death cases. Mr. Childers has extensive experience in the areas of workers’ compensation, personal injury and products liability litigation in both state and federal court. Mr. Childers has extensive experience and training in the operation and inspection of tractor-trailer units. He has been involved in extensive litigation regarding driver fatigue, log books, compliance with state and federal regulations regarding the operation of commercial vehicles to include inspection of braking systems, operation and functioning of braking systems, interpretation and recovery of computer data (black box) from commercial vehicles and private passenger vehicles.

Through the handling of approximately 20,000 workers’ compensation cases, Mr. Childers has extensive experience in environmental medicine and biomechanical medicine as it relates to the mechanism of injury and the cause of orthopedic, and neurologic injuries. Mr. Childers has extensive experience in defending cases involving life-care plans, paraplegic spinal injuries, quadriplegic spinal injuries, and central nervous system injuries resulting from blunt trauma to the brain and closed head injuries to the brain.

Mr. Childers received his J.D. from the University of Missouri Kansas City, MO, 1981, and his B.A. from Drury University, 1976. In addition, he has a post-graduate studies in fire science and fire investigation, International Association of Insurance Defense Counsel Trial Academy (1985). He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association Defense Research Institute and the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers. Mr. Childers has spoken to both professional and industry organizations on various legal topics.

Mr. Childers and his wife of 45 years have two sons and four grandchildren.
