The Law Office of Curtis J. Butcher and Associates is located in Carmel, Indiana, and has represented clients in Indiana and several other states since 1972. The firm has earned the trust of clients through growing and protecting their business and acquisitions. Being both an Attorney and a CPA added additional expertise for his clients in businesses, real estate tax appeals, estate planning and probate. He practices only law and his tax work consists only of tax appeals. Whether large, small or a beginning business, Mr. Butcher provides expert seasoned advice and guidance. His one to one personalized assistance gained long term clients.

He has represented clients in the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago, Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati, U.S. District Court in Nebraska, Indiana Supreme Court, Indiana Appellate Court, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana, numerous state courts and the U.S Tax Court. He has had cases involving many different types of clients including cases against U.S. Steel, Transceiver, Whirlpool and U.S. Department of Labor. He was appointed as Co-counsel by the U.S. District Court for Southern Indiana in a case involving the sale and liquidation of an entity’s assets in which he was the primary attorney for the sale/liquidation of HUD properties and Assisted Living Facilities located in 6 different states.

He received his BS degree from Indiana University with majors in Accounting and Economics followed by a J.D in law from Indiana University. While obtaining his BS and JD degrees from Indiana University he finished his experience requirements for becoming a CPA by working as Manager of the Indiana University Bookstores, Cost accountant for Indiana National Bank and Budget analyst and assistant to the Secretary of Stokely Van-camp. He completed the requirement for CPA in the same time frame that he was admitted to the Bar.

He is a member of the Indiana State Bar, Indianapolis Bar, the American Bar Association, the American Academy of Attorney CPAs, the AICPA Association, the Indiana CPA Association and the
American Judicature Society.

His longtime interest in architecture and building led to his involvement in the revitalization of the Arts and Design in Carmel, Indiana. He remodeled and restored his office building and received a Look Award from the Chamber of Commerce. He was appointed by Mayor Brainard to the Historic Preservation Committee. He is continuing to renovate two additional historic buildings.

He is married to Mary Ann Butcher, his wife of 57 years, and has two adult children, Lora Ann and Jason R. Butcher.
