Bonnie E. Saltzman established her private law firm in 2001. She was admitted to the Colorado Bar in 1989. She focuses on all areas of law that impact children, youth and families including divorce, child abuse/neglect, adoption, stepparent adoption, parental rights, child support, juvenile delinquency, grandparent visitation and post-decree matters. Prior to 2001, she worked as a Juvenile Diversion Counselor, a Victim Advocate and a Deputy District Attorney in the Denver District Attorney’s Office. She was also the Chief Operating Officer for Signal Behavioral Health Network (a non-profit managed service organization for substance abuse treatment) 1997 – 2000.

In college Ms. Saltzman developed a strong interest in children, youth and families that has directed her career. A native of Denver, Colorado, she began her undergraduate studies at Scripps College, continued at Oxford University (England) and returned to Colorado to complete her B.A. in Sociology at Colorado College in 1984. She attended the University of Denver for graduate studies, receiving her Master’s Degree in Social Work with an emphasis on children, youth and families in 1986 and J.D. in 1989.

Actively contributing to the community, Bonnie was appointed by Governor Ritter to the Colorado Juvenile Delinquency Prevention Advisory Council in 2008 and was appointed Chairperson of this Board by Governor Hickenlopper in July 2011.  She served as Chairperson until September 2014 and her term as a member of the Council expired in July 2015.  Bonnie was also a member of the Colorado Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice, Juvenile Justice Task-Force 2011 – 2014.

Ms. Saltzman’s professional memberships include the Colorado Bar Association, the Juvenile Law and Family Law Sections of the Colorado Bar Association, and Arapahoe County Bar Association. She is a member of the American Inns of Court (whose mission is to foster excellence in professionalism, ethics, civility, and legal skills) and has held the position of Treasurer with the Rhone-Brackett Inn, located in Denver, Colorado, from 2000 to the present. She is a member of the Association of Family & Conciliation Courts, 2008—present (including Colorado chapter); and Metropolitan Denver Interdisciplinary Committee, 2005—present.

Ms. Saltzman’s article (co-author), “What do They Think? The Delinquency Process as Viewed by the Youth,” was published in the University of Denver Law Review in August 1992.

Ms. Saltzman is Selected To Super Lawyers: 2019 – 2020, Top Lawyer by Marquis Who’s Who in American Law, recognized as the 10 Best Client Satisfaction by the American institute of Family Law Attorneys in 2016.
