She is a 17 year police veteran. Her law enforcement experience began as a police officer on the streets of Fort Worth Texas where she was eventually promoted to Ft Worth’s first female Crime Scene Investigator. After 12 yrs, Rita relocated her family to Springfield Mo where she worked for Southwest Missouri’s Major Case Squad as a homicide investigator and then Christian County Sheriff’s department as the departments first female major case investigator. This law enforcement experience gives Rita an advantage that few attorneys possess. Having been a former officer, Rita knows and understands police procedures and policies from the inside out. She has found this knowledge to be a definite advantage when defending her clients. Rita also wrote the curriculum and taught search and seizure classes at MSU as an adjunct professor. Using her law enforcement experience along with her expert knowledge in fourth amendment search and seizure issues she has been able to win 98% of all Jury Trials. This is one of the highest defense win rates in the country. Rita also is a proud Army Veteran. Rita has a Doctorate of Jurisprudence, a Doctorate of Theology, and Bachelor degrees in Psychology, Criminal Justice and Sociology. She is a member of the Missouri State Bar and is on the Board of The Sanctuary of Hope Church, Antioch Christian College in Sweden, and Midwest College of Theology.
As a police officer Rita received the medal of valor and numerous commendations for bravery, as an attorney she was Wall Street Business Women of the year in 2006 and on the Missouri Bar Associations Pro Bono Wall of Fame in 2016.
Rita proudly boasts of her three sons, one of which is a federal agent, one a minister on the leadership staff of James River Church serving as their Creative Director and the youngest an engineer with Union Pacific Railroad. She also has four beautiful grandchildren.
