Lisha Prater Seery is a Southwest Missouri native with more than 25 years of experience handling complex legal matters involving asset protection planning, eligibility for Medicaid and VA benefits,  business formation and succession planning, Trust and Probate administration as well as Trust litigation, Guardianships and Conservatorships. She also prepares General Durable Powers of Attorney, Healthcare Directives and other documents necessary for a full Estate Plan. She has successfully appealed administrative decisions denying Medicaid eligibility as well as appealing VA eligibility cases all the way to the United States Court of Appeals for Veteran’s Claims.

Prior to focusing her practice on Elder Law, Estate Planning and Probate, Lisha Prater Seery had a successful Family Law practice involving high-asset clients, business valuations and obtained certification as a Divorce Financial Analyst. Mrs. Seery received training as a high-conflict divorce mediator and continues to utilize her skills as a mediator when dealing with disputes between heirs and beneficiaries.

Mrs. Seery received her Doctor of Law (J.D.) from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law and earned a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice magna cum laude from Drury University. She is a member of the Missouri Bar Association and American Bar Association, she has served on committees devoted to family law, elder law, probate and estate planning, and real estate. Mrs. Seery is also a founding member and officer of the Missouri Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, and founded the Family Conflict Resolution Center in Springfield, a non-profit organization providing low-cost mediation and parent education to low-income litigants.

While focusing her practice on Elder Law, Estate Planning, and Probate, Mrs. Seery has received recognition for excellence in the practice of Elder Law from Lawyer’s of Distinction in 2018 and 2019.  She has also  been recognized as the Best of Springfield 2019 for Elder Law and Estate Planning as well as Super Lawyers.
