Mariah Morris, Associate Attorney at Occam immigration, has been admitted to practice law since 2017. She is licensed to practice U.S. federal immigration law in South Carolina, in every state, and throughout the world. Mariah focused her practice in immigration law after spending time working with Catholic Charities Legal Immigration Services. During her final semester in law school, Mariah began clerking at Occam Immigration and became an associate after passing the South Carolina bar exam. Mariah’s work covers all areas of immigration, focusing on family-based cases, asylum, U visas, and naturalization. She also handles state-law related matters for the firm. Mariah can assist with family-based visas which help family members of U.S. Citizens or Lawful Permanent Residents become lawful permanent residents as well, also known as a Green Card holder (sometimes with conditional status). These type of visas are document-intensive, and many people run into problems with what specific evidence is required by the U.S. Government, which can cause significant delays in processing. Born in New Mexico and raised in Arkansas, Mariah spent her time studying the arts and history. During her undergraduate education at the University of Central Arkansas, Mariah discovered an interest in law when learning about the difficulties of recovering stolen art by the Nazi regime during World War II. Mariah received her J.D. from Charleston School of Law, Cum Laude. While at the University of Central Arkansas, Mariah was a member of Phi Alpha Theta Honors Society, a history honor society. Additionally, she was a member of the Art History Association. While attending Charleston School of Law, Mariah was the Associate Editor-in-Chief of the Charleston Law Review. She was also a member of the Presidential Honors Program.

While attending the University of Central Arkansas, Mariah was a Merit Scholar Recipient and on the Dean’s List every semester. As a law student at the Charleston School of Law, Mariah was honored the CALI Award in various classes such as, Legal Research, Analysis & Writing, Business Associations, International Business Transactions, and Sports Law. Mariah was also a Merit Scholar Recipient and on the Dean’s List. She graduated from Charleston School of Law with honors earning the degree Cum Laude. And for her dedication to volunteer services during school, Mariah was awarded the Outstanding Pro Bono Service award for 100 or more hours of service.

Mariah lives in the Charleston Metropolitan area with her dog, Mr. Darcy. She enjoys spending time on the beach with her dog, as well as spending time soaking in the sun with her friends. Mariah loves the culinary experiences that Charleston offers and the many venues to take in plays in shows.
