Newman ADR Mediation & Arbitration is an alternative dispute resolution company, established by Madame Justice Sandra Schultz Newman. After leaving the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, she now focuses on appellate practice, arbitration and mediation. She also prepares lawyers for mock appellate arguments.

Sandra Schultz Newman has spent more than 30 years in court on both sides of the bench. She is license to practice in Pennsylvania and New York. Justice Sandra Schultz Newman not only served as the first elected female Justice on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court but also as a Judge for the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania. She also served as the first female Assistant District Attorney in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, and spent more than 20 years in a private trial and appellate practices. She has tried or heard thousands of cases dealing with issues ranging from family Law and personal injury to medical malpractice, workers’ compensation and zoning matters.While serving on the bench, Justice Sandra Schultz Newman heard a broad range of cases from intellectual property to construction, medical malpractice, products liability, environmental and insurance coverage disputes. She also certified numerous Third Circuit and United States Supreme Court cases. Among the many notable opinions, she penned are Machipongo Land and Coal Co. v. Department of Environmental Protection and Commonwealth v. Sattazahn. Many of these decisions not only had landmark impact in Pennsylvania but were upheld in the United States Supreme Court. It is this collective experience that allows her to bring true neutrality and objectivity to proceedings.

Justice Sandra Schultz Newman’s Pennsylvania Supreme Court experience makes her uniquely qualified to coach attorneys as they prepare for appellate arguments. She can also fulfill the role of appellate judge or Justice in practice arguments.

Some of her best known decisions include the resolution of the Ralph Nader for President nomination papers, the implementation of electronic voting machines in every county in Pennsylvania, and the finding that limousine drivers are independent contractors.

Justice Sandra Schultz Newman is certified in basic and advanced divisions by the Harvard Law Mediation Program – a program that follows a facilitative mediation model and includes training by mediation professionals followed by mediation of advanced cases.

Justice Sandra Schultz Newman graduated from Drexel University with a B.S., received her M.A. from Temple University, obtained her J.D. from Villanova University Law School and attended Harvard Law Mediation Training. She  was one of the founders of the new Drexel University College of Law, and serves on its Board of Overseers, and she has been on the Executive Board of Trustees of Drexel’s College of Medicine.

Justice Sandra Schultz has received the Medallion of Achievement Award from Villanova University School of Law, the Anee X. Alpern Award from the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and four Honorary Doctorate Degrees. She is also a recipient of the Drexel 100 Award, recognizing her as one of Drexel University’s 100 outstanding alumni, and she has been designated a Distinguished Daughter of Pennsylvania.
