Since 1993, Emily Love has exclusively practice in the areas of immigration and nationality law. She has been representing clients throughout Illinois, Wisconsin, and Northern Indiana in family-based and deportation/removal defense matters and employees and companies throughout the U.S. in employment-based immigrant and non-immigrant petitions. As the political, legal, and social landscape of immigration has become a hot topic, Ms. Love will continue to show compassion for her clients, helping them to get a better life for themselves and  their families.

Emily Love received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Latin American Studies from Haverford College. She spent her junior year of college studying at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in Mexico City. While in Mexico, she developed fluency in the Spanish language and familiarity with aspects of the politics and cultures of Latin America.

After college graduation, Ms. Love spent four years in Washington D.C., working in the press offices of two U.S. Senators and volunteering at a legal services agency which helped local, primarily Latin American, immigrants seeking legalization through the 1986 amnesty and those seeking political asylum. After she moved home to the Chicago area, Ms. Love spent one year working as the Public Information Coordinator at the agency now known as the Illinois Coalition for immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR) before enrolling at Loyola University Chicago School of Law.

After graduating from law school and being admitted to practice law in Illinois and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Ms. Love spent 3½ years as an associate attorney at the Chicago law firm now known as Kempster, Corcoran, Quiceno & Lenz-Calvo, Ltd. In July 1997, she opened the Law Office of Emily Love, P.C., located since 1999 in Evanston, Illinois.

Throughout her career, Ms. Love has collaborated with ICIRR and other local and national non-profit immigrant and refugee legal services agencies, including Centro Romero, Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, and the CARA Family Detention Pro Bono Project. She has been an active member of the Chicago Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) since 1995. In July 2016, Ms. Love joined the Board of Directors of Open Communities, an organization dedicated to the promotion of just and inclusive communities in north suburban Chicago.

Helping her clients remains a source of great satisfaction for Ms. Love. She is thrilled when an officer or judge rule is in her client’s favor, just knowing that the person is now closer to becoming a U.S. citizen.
