Kent D. Hale is a partner at the firm. He is admitted to practice by the State Bar of Texas, 1980, the U.S. Court of Appeals 5th Circuit, 1981,the U.S. District Court Western District of Texas, 1981. He is also admitted to the U.S. District Court Northern District of Texas, 1981 and the U.S. District Court Eastern District of Texas. Mr. Hale has represented people in all types of agricultural and commercial areas, ag-lending, inventory financing and many other types of commercial lending. This led to his work in the Uniform Commercial Code, lending and leasing. He found knowing a client’s business enhances his ability to represent them. He has also have been involved significantly in the manufactured housing industry representing manufacturers and dealers.
Another significant part of Mr. Hale’s work has been in agriculture, cattle, cotton and other agri-business. Growing up in the country in Floydada, Texas he grew up involved in farming, ranching, and agri-business. After graduating college with a degree in financing, he returned home to learn more about the family’s farming, ranching and agri-business .
While traveling and playing inter-collegiate golf, Mr. Hale ended up visiting states all over the Southwest. He had been thinking about going to law school before graduating from the University of Arizona majoring in Finance. The idea came up as he played golf with several attorneys in Tucson (never knew one before) at the University of Arizona. With the encouragement of his father, he attended law school.
Mr. Hale went to Texas Tech University School of Law, receiving his J.D. He became an a estate tax lawyer. After graduating from law school and finding no work in the tax areas, He was fortunate enough to work in the areas of commercial law. The work involved all types of financing, sale of products, whether it be cotton, cattle, mobile homes, cars, caterpillars or tractors, as well as defending commercial clients being sued by consumers trying to take advantage of his clients.
Mr. Hale is a member of the Lubbock County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, the Uniform Commercial Code Committee, Texas Business Law Section 2012-present, the State Bar of Texas Certification of Exam Committees on Consumer Law; and Consumer Law Section, Board of Directors.
