Terrie was formerly with the UAW Legal Services Plan, a prepaid legal benefit program provided by the nation’s major automakers for their union employees. As manager of two of their local offices for over 17 years, she provided legal representation to hundreds of Western New York autoworkers, in the areas of Estates and Trusts and Bankruptcy. She also has extensive experience in the areas of real estate, adoptions, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act litigation in federal court, matrimonial and family practice, and civil litigation. She has lectured on elder law and estate practice for the local and state bar associations.
Terrie Benson Murray graduated Summa Cum Laude from the State University of New York at Fredonia with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and History. She earned her Juris Doctorate from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law. She is a member of the New York State Bar Association and also a member the Bar Association of Erie County. She is on the Board of Directors for the Family Justice Center of Erie County. She is a member of the Elder Law, Practice and Procedure in Surrogate’s Court, Bankruptcy and Intellectual Property committees. Terrie is a lifelong resident of Western New York.
Terrie served the community as former Chair of the Board of the Southtowns Family Center, which houses the Southtown’s satellite of the Family Justice Center, a provider of services for victims of domestic abuse. She now serves as President of the Board of Directors of the Family Justice Center of Buffalo and Erie County, continuing her commitment to fighting domestic violence and abuse. She is a founding member and officer of PEO Chapter CM, a women’s organization dedicated to assisting women who wish to pursue higher education, by providing scholarships and loans.
Terrie lives in Colden, New York with her husband, Jim, and is an active member of her church, Orchard Park Presbyterian, having served on multiple boards and committees. She also enjoys participating in Sanctuary Choir as well as the Handbell Choir.
