Attorneys Barbara Lawless and Therese Lawless are sisters who established the law firm together, along with attorney Emily McGrath they represent employees and individuals in workplace discrimination, sexual harassment lawsuits, wrongful or retaliatory discharge cases, sex discrimination and glass ceiling claims, and other employee rights matters, including sexual assault cases and civil rights matters. Barbara A. Lawless has practiced employment law in California for over 37 years. She is admitted to practice by the California State Bar. Her area of concentration is wrongful termination law, employment discrimination and sexual harassment.

Ms. Lawless handles cases involving retaliatory termination, whistleblower claims and qui tam actions under the False Claims Act, wage and hour claims, including claims for unpaid overtime or unpaid sales commissions, employment contracts and severance agreements. In addition cases are often at the cutting edge of workplace and civil rights for women, older or disabled workers, people of color, gay or lesbian employees and those who are victims of religious discrimination.

Ms. Lawless understands employment law, using her courtroom skills she and has gone before the State and Federal Court, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Fair Employment and Housing Act. Barbara A. Lawless graduated from Marymount College with a B.A. (1968), the London School of Economics and obtained her J.D. from the University of California at Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law, Berkeley, California (1972). She is a past President of the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association, she has also served on the Executive Boards of the California Lawyers Association, the California Employment Lawyers Association, and the Consumer Attorneys of California.

Barbara A. Lawless has written and lectured extensively on wrongful termination, employment discrimination, and other employee rights issues for 25 years. She received the Distinguished Law Firm Award, Women Trial Lawyers Caucus of the AAJ and recognized by Super Lawyers, 2013.
