Tom Bunting brings over 17 years’ litigation experience to the firm. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Virginia, the United States District for the Eastern, Western District of Virginia and the United States Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Tom has handled a wide array of  auto and truck accidents, slip and fall cases, Federal Employers’ Liability Act claims, workers’ compensation, traffic and DUI, and other personal injury cases in his career. Tom spent the first 12 years of his career on the defense side, representing trucking companies, employers, and insurers in personal injury and workers’ compensation matters. In 2012, he began representing plaintiffs in personal injury cases, particularly railroad workers injured on the job. Since joining The Shields Law Firm in 2017. Tom handles cases in auto accidents, personal injury, divorce, child custody and support, and representation of credit card holders in disputes with credit card companies. Additionally he helps people with wills and trust.

Tom has successfully tried over 75 cases to a jury. He has has multiple six figure settlements for his clients and has represented clients throughout the eastern United States. Tom has used his unique experience as personal injury attorney, to achieve the best results for his clients.

Tom Bunting is a native of Delaware who came to Virginia in 1994 to attend the College of William & Mary. In 1997 he earned a B.A. in Economics. He then moved to Richmond and earned his J.D. from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond in 2000.
