Steve Distler born in the Bronx, New York, was admitted to practice law in the State of New York. He graduated from the State University of New York at Albany before attending and graduating from Brooklyn Law School in 1988. He is a member of the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers.
Upon graduation from law school, he began his career working as an Assistant District Attorney for the Kings County DA’s office in Brooklyn, New York. Mr. Distler began prosecuting misdemeanor cases before assisting Detectives in conducting investigations into violent felonies by visiting the crime scene, interviewing witnesses and taking videotaped statements of the individual accused of committing the crime.
Mr. Distler eventually tried cases before judges in Brooklyn to verdict in the most serious felony cases in the borough, including the prosecution of homicide cases.
Mr. Distler entered the personal injury arena and worked for the City of New York as an Assistant Corporation Counsel defending high exposure, personal injury cases before judges in Brooklyn where brought against the City for matters including trip and falls, accidents due to sidewalk defects, motor vehicle accidents involving City owned and operated vehicles, claims brought by pedestrians and cyclists predicated upon roadway defects, and claims for false arrest brought against the New York City Police Department in Brooklyn.
Mr. Distler then worked as a defense attorney defending personal injury cases brought by plaintiffs against private citizens and companies in New York City. He defended high exposure cases where plaintiffs were injured in construction accidents, trip and fall cases, sports-related activities, and motor vehicle accidents. Distler tried cases to verdict in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Staten Island.
When not working, Steve Distler enjoys staying active and spending time with his daughter.
