Top Attorney – J. Moises Cedillos

J. Moises Cedillos founded the Cedillos Law firm in 2017 to continue fighting for the rights of employees and individuals injured by reason of someone’s carelessness. He is an experienced litigator, who appears frequently in all Texas state courts and the United States District Court, Southern, Northern District of Texas, the United States District Court, Northern District of California and all Ohio State Courts. Mr. Cedillos understands that every case is unique in its opportunities and challenges. He works tirelessly on each case and treats each case as his only case. He prides himself on working long hours. You will find Mr. Cedillos in his office at 6:00 am., Monday – Saturday, and working at his desk while having lunch.

Attorney Cedillos began his legal career as a judicial clerk for a Circuit in Michigan. There he drafted opinions for the Court and advised the Court of issues of the law. At the expiration of his clerkship, Mr. Cedillos passed on offers to work at some of the nation’s largest firms, electing instead to help individuals recover for their injuries or unpaid overtime wages owed. Since then he has been involved in complex overtime case, personal injury lawsuits, and defective products litigation.

Mr. Cedillos came to the United States from war-torn El Salvador in 1984, riding on his uncle’s back as they crossed the Rio Grande. He was three years old. His father had come up first, then his mother, and three older siblings.

Mr. Cedillos learned English watching Sesame Street while his parents worked. “Somehow, my mother knew enough to tune in to PBS.” In high school, Mr. Cedillos began to realize that the way up was through education, He graduated number 23, which put him in the top 15 percent of his class but “far from the number he wanted.”

His counselor suggested he apply for the Children Defense Fund, Beat the Odds award in 2000 which honors high school seniors who are overcoming adversity while demonstrating academic excellence. A recipient of the award, Mr. Cedillos received a full scholarship from Rice University.

CDF’s Houston office found an immigration attorney to help him with becoming legal and took on his case pro bono, and Mr. Cedillos was granted citizenship. He decided to become a lawyer. He attended Houston Community College and then Texas Southern University with a B.A. in Political Science, graduating first in class. He went on to Ohio State University’s  Moritz College of Law.

Outside the practice of law, Mr Cedillos enjoys spending time with his family, including his wife and daughter. Mr. Cedillos appreciates his position in life and donates annualy to the Children’s Defense Fund, and attends the Beat the Odds event in Houston every year.
