Kristin Marrero was admitted to the Florida State Bar in 2014, and has been a litigation attorney throughout the entirety of her career. Her practice areas include First-Party Property Litigation, Criminal Defense and DUIs. Ms. Marrero began her career as an Assistant Public Defender for the 20th Judicial Circuit in Lee County, Florida. There, she acted as the attorney of record in over 1400 cases and tried over 20 jury trials as lead counsel. Following her time with the Public Defender’s Office, Ms. Marrero worked as an Associate Litigation Attorney with Walton Lantaff Schroeder and Carson, LLP in Miami, Florida. At Walton Lantaff, her areas of practice included criminal defense as well as civil defense – specifically, first and third party insurance coverage and liability defense, personal injury, and construction litigation.
Ms. Marrero graduated from both St. Vincent College and Ave Maria School of Law, Juris Doctor, with honors.Based on the results of her trial work, Ms. Marrero was awarded a Premier 100 Trial Attorney designation from the National Academy of Jurisprudence. She was also given a Justice Foundation Scholarship from the DUI Defense Lawyers Association for her handling of DUI cases. Other Honors and Awards she received Book Award, Criminal Procedure, AMSL (2011), Ave Maria Internal Appellate Competition (2011), Overall Best Brief, Ave Maria Internal Appellate Competition (2011), Book Award, Appellate Practice, AMSL (2012) 1st Place, Ave Maria Internal Trial Competition (2012) and the Distinguished Lawyer Designation, Expert Network (2017).
