Attorney Dowat, admitted to the Illinois Bar in 2005 and is licensed to practice law in the Federal District Court in Northern Illinois, the Eastern District of Wisconsin, Federal Bankruptcy Court in Illinois and Wisconsin, as well as the United States Tax Court, is a tax attorney, who began his career as an insurance agent, then a broker and investment adviser. As a result of doing a lot of tax work for his clients, he realized that the practice area of tax law would be his calling for changing his client’s lives. Since there was a need to help clients with their taxes, Mr. Dowat, realized that in addition to tax problems his clients often had problems with debt, and now his practice focuses on resolving tax issues and helping clients through bankruptcy. “I have found that there is great synergy between bankruptcy law and tax law. Bankruptcy law allows a taxpayer to resolve their tax issues on better terms that the taxpayer would get outside of bankruptcy.” Through out his legal career, he has successfully handle cases professionally and effectively.

Mr. Dowat is graduate of Chicago-Kent College of Law Illinois Institute of Technology, JD – Juris Doctor, in Taxation and Indiana University Bloomington, Indiana, BA – Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics with a Math Minor. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Du Page County Bar Association He is licensed to represent taxpayers before the IRS. Mr. Dowat, has lectured at many speaking engagements and is a published author of topics regarding tax and bankruptcy issues.
