Jenifer Briggs devotes her practice representing individuals, companies and banks in transactional matters which include preparation/review of residential closing documents, commercial loans for lenders and borrowers, UCC filings, uncontested matrimonial court documents, custody agreements, corporate and limited liability company formation documents, and residential and commercial leases. She also handles litigation relating to evictions and other types of collection actions.

Attorney Briggs, admitted to the New York State Bar and the Connecticut State Bar (retired), is a native of Lake Placid, who began her legal career in the State of Connecticut where she worked as Judicial Clerk for the State of Connecticut Superior Court. She gained extensive experience regularly drafting decisions for two Superior Court Judges involving various matters and was also one of three clerks designated to write decisions on Land Use Planning Appeals on behalf of the State of Connecticut Superior Court.

In 2002, Jenifer returned to Lake Placid where she was an associate with the Law Office of James M. Brooks. In this capacity she obtained hands on experience handling various civil litigation and insurance defense matters, local land use and tax issues, family custody, neglect and juvenile delinquency matters, surrogate court proceedings and real estate transactions. Jenifer has appeared and argued multiple times before the New York State Supreme Court Appellate Division in the Third Judicial Department and successfully argued before New York State’s highest appellate court, the Court of Appeals (Matter of Catherne G. v. County of Essex, et al., 3 N.Y. 3d 175, 785 N.Y.S.2d 369). Jenifer is currently the attorney for the Essex County Industrial Development Agency and has been working with them since 2006 when she joined Briggs Norfolk LLP.

Jenifer is a graduate of the Albany Law School of University, J.D., and the State University of New York at Genesco, receiving a B.A. She is a member of the New York State Bar Association and Essex County Bar Association and member of the Lake Placid Outing Club.
