Donna L. Buttler is a solo practitioner located in the Farmington Valley, focusing her practice on Family Law including divorce, custody and parenting plans, child support, restraining orders, and prenuptial agreements. Her practice incorporates many tools to successfully advocate for her clients . She is an experienced litigator who has conducted trials for 25 years in the state courts and is knowledgeable of the decisions of the judges. However believing that parties benefit from controlling the resolution of their own family matters, she also is highly trained in implementing the flexible methods of negotiation, collaboration, and mediation to avoid when possible, court imposed results.
After graduation from the University of Rochester with honors with a dual degree in Biology and Chemistry, she attended the University of Connecticut also graduating with honors. Attorney Buttler was admitted to the Connecticut Bar in 1994, and has practiced before the Connecticut Superior Court, Appellate Court, Supreme Court, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut. After working as a solo practitioner from 1997 to 2009, she became a founding partner of MLKB&R, LLC in Farmington, and has recently returned to solo practice in Avon, Connecticut.
Attorney Buttler is a member of the International Association of Collaborative Professionals and an officer of the Connecticut Collaborative Divorce Group. She has been a board member of the Connecticut Council for Non-Adversarial since 2014. She has also been the co-chair of the Family Law Section of the Hartford County Bar Association since 2013. She is an active member of the Connecticut Bar Association, Connecticut Bar Association Family Bar Section and Hartford County Bar Association. She has served as a Special Master in the Hartford and New Britain courts since 2000.
