She takes pride in the fact that the vast majority of her cases are resolved without going to trial, and that a high substantial percentage are resolved without even a single court appearance.

The core elements of Ms. Collins practice is traditional litigation. Although stressful and adversarial, there are times when litigation is the best, or only, option. When handling your matter in a traditional litigation framework is necessary, it is still likely that your matter can be settled without a trial. Only a small percentage of cases are ultimately resolved by a trial, or hearing, in front of a judge. Ms. Collins is an experienced attorney in divorce law and trained in Mediation. She believes that for many couples, the mediation process offers a viable alternative to traditional divorce litigation. Through mediation, divorcing and separating couples create a framework for themselves with professional assistance. Within this framework, couples work out fair arrangements for their children (if any), their ongoing financial rights and responsibilities, and a division of their personal and real property. The Mediation process will work only if the parties are both willing to make a good faith effort to reach agreement. There is no legal obligation to agree; any commitment to the process and its result come voluntarily from the people involved. Collaborative Practice, including Collaborative Law and interdisciplinary Collaborative Divorce, is a new way for you to resolve disputes respectfully — without going to court — while working with trained professionals who are important to all areas of your life. Parties can negotiate a mutually acceptable settlements without having courts decide issues, maintain open communication and information sharing, create shared solutions acknowledging the highest priorities of all.

Ms. Collins received her B.A. from Excelsior College, her J.D. from the University of Buffalo, and Masters’ Degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California, which emphasizes a holistic approach to management and problem solving. She speaks Polish, German and Russian.
