Nicholas J. Galasso and his son, Nicholas R. Galasso, formed GALASSO P.C. in 2014, combining their tale to provide clients with a wide range of legal matters including family law, real estate, business law, estate planning, probate and civil litigation.
Nicholas J. Galasso concentrates his practice in family law and probate matters. He is admitted by the State of Illinois, U.S. District Court, U.S. Supreme Court. As a private practitioner he concentrated in the areas of corporations, tax, probate and divorce matters, he began his judicial career in 1995 when he was appointed Associate Judge in DuPage County.
While in the Domestic Relations Division, he presided over several hundred cases at one time, and either settled or tried cases involving complex business litigation, contentious child custody and visitation disputes and other contested matters involving all aspects of family law.
His judicial experience bolsters his legal expertise and experience in handling disputes involving maintenance, child support, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements , removal, alienation of affections, marital and other parental rights, valuation and disposition of assets, equitable division of assets and enforcement of legal obligations required by Court Orders.
His prior judicial experience as a divorce judge also allows him to assess each case from the perspective of a judge hearing the case, a valuable benefit his clients have enjoyed since he has been in private practice. He is also widely recognized as an accomplished trial attorney and skillful negotiator.
While in private practice before he became an Associate Judge, he practiced in the area of taxation and accounting related to individuals and corporations, both those closely held or family owned and publicly traded corporations. Additionally, he also has wide experience with respect to taxation and accounting related to partnerships, sole proprietorships and other forms of business ownership.
In 1991, the Governor of the State of Illinois appointed him as Public Guardian of DuPage County, and he served in that capacity until his appointment as an Associate Judge for DuPage County in 1995. As Public Guardian of DuPage County, he was appointed to protect the interests of disabled adults and minors, and he proudly served DuPage County in that capacity. He also worked closely with the Public Administrator of DuPage County during the same period of time and assisted in handling all aspects of the probating of decedent’s estates.
Since 2007, he has been appointed by the Courts to serve as an arbitrator and mediator in divorce cases, an expert witness and he has served as a Guardian ad Litem for the 18th Judicial Circuit to represents and protect the best interests of children in numerous cases.
Nicholas J. Galasso received his undergraduate degree from Illinois Wesleyan University and his Juris Doctorate from DePaul College of Law. He has served as an adjunct professor at Aurora University in Aurora, Illinois where he taught Advanced Business Law and Advanced Estate Planning, among other classes. He is also a member of the DuPage County Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, DuPage County Associate Judge, Illinois Judges Association, DuPage County Justinian Society of Lawyers. In 2013, he received an award from DuPage County Legal Aid for his distinguished service providing pro bono legal services and has an Avvo rating for Superb Top Attorney Divorce.
Nicholas J. Galasso has two children, Michelle who is a Senior Administrator with KPMG in Nashville and his son, Nicholas R. Galasso form Galasso P.C. in December, 2014.
