Camilo Oceguera is a principal attorney and founding partner of D&O Law Group. A former Assistant State’s Attorney in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. Camilo handled family law matters and all types of felony and misdemeanor criminal matters from violent offenses such as murder to financial and property crimes. Camilo spent an extensive amount of time handling traffic offenses, becoming an expert in DUIs and Statutory Summary Suspension Hearings.
In particular, Camilo handled the Illinois State Trooper call for almost a year. Camilo has tried more than fifteen jury trials, helping him develop a strong sense of comfort in the courtroom as a litigator. In addition to his extensive criminal law background, Camilo previously worked as a project assistant at the prestigious Kirkland and Ellis, LLP, where he was exposed to complex Civil Litigation in State, Federal, and International Courts.
Camilo Oceguera received his B.A. from Colgate University in Spanish and Peace Studies and his J.D. from Depaul College of Law. He sits on the Board of the South West Suburban Bar Association and South Suburban Bar Association and he is also a member of Chicago Bar Association and Illinois State Bar Association.
A first generation Mexican American, Camilo throughout his educational and professional experiences, has consistently demonstrated a commitment to helping others in his community. Camilo volunteered in Harlingen, Texas, where he assisted detainees with immigration issues. Camilo also spent a summer in the southern-most state of Mexico, Chiapas, working with victims of crime on a municipal level as well as preparing petitions for Human Rights Violations before the International Human Rights Court in Costa Rica.
After more than five years working as a prosecutor for the People of the State of Illinois, Camilo is ready to serve “la comunidad” in a broader capacity. Camilo is ready to utilize his extensive trial, professional, and grass-roots experiences to represent clients in any capacity.
