Mr. Scott, a founding partner of Scott & Scott, along with his brother, R. Stephen Scott, have practiced together since the late 1970’s. Their father and predecessor, Robert F. Scott, founded the firm in 1947 and continued to serve as a consultants until March of 2006. As a partner of the firm he has continued a strong tradition of service to his community and believes his clients deserve the highest quality representation he has established throughout the firm. Greg’s son, Jared M. Scott, has followed as next generation to join the firm. Mr. Scott concentrates his practice in the area of Family Law at the Trial Court, Appellate Court and Supreme Court levels. He also practices in the areas of Estate Planning, Real Estate, and maintains a general practice of law.
Greg received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Illinois State University in 1973, and his Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School in 1977. He is admitted to the Illinois Supreme Court and the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois. Mr. Scott is a past President of the Sangamon County Bar Association, chair of the Illinois State Bar Association Judicial Evaluations-Outside Cook County Committee, Chair of the Illinois State Bar Association Family Law Section Council and is a frequent lecturer in the area of family law for the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education, the Illinois State Bar Association and the National Business Institute. Greg is also a member of Illinois State Bar Association and the Sangamon County Bar Association. He has served in the capacity of President, Vice-President and Treasurer of the Sangamon County Bar Association and is past President of the Sangamon County Bar Association.
Greg is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He was a member of the Board of Managers of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Illinois Chapter. He has been designated as a Leading Lawyer. He handles complex and less complex dissolution cases. Greg has been very conscious of the need to help his clients go through a difficult process and approach each issue objectively and fairly.
