He has tried every type of legal matter imaginable including an abundance of catastrophic personal injury and complex medical malpractice matters. Mr. Barber has given numerous seminars to his peers on the subjects of workers’ compensation practice, personal injury and medical malpractice. He stays up to date with the current law and changes to the Workers’ Compensation Act with his involvement in the Workers’ Compensation Lawyer’s Association, Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, Northwest Suburban Bar Association and with his continuing legal education participation. Mr. Barber also takes pride in representing those first responders who put their life on the line while protecting our communities. He has represented 1,000s of our brothers and sisters in law enforcement, fire fighting and emergency medical at a discounted rate. One of Mr. Barber’s notable cases is Olle v. C House Corp 2012 Il App 110427 (1st Dist). That case set new law in Illinois that held that the inherent risk rule did not bar police officers from bringing a Dram Shop action against a bar owner when the officer is injured by an intoxicated patron.
Mr. Barber received his B.A. from Arizona State University and his J.D. from Valparaiso University School of Law. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Illinois Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association, American Trial Lawyers Association, Northwest Suburban Bar Association, and Northwest Suburban Bar Association.
Mr. Barber has been invited to join the “Multi-Million Advocates Forum” and was named as an “Illinois Super Lawyer” based on his recoveries for his clients.
