Top Attorney – Lawrence J. Kiel
Farmington, CT WW/Press/February 20, 2017 –Lawrence J. Kiel, Partner & Attorney with MLKB&R (Murphy, Laudati, Kiel, Buttler, Rattigan, LLC), was selected for inclusion in the forthcoming Top Attorneys of North America 2017 edition. 
Since 1983, Mr. Kiel has concentrated his practice in the areas of residential and commercial real estate transactions, business law and estate planning and settlements. In the residential real estate arena, he has nearly thirty years of experience representing home buyers, builders, developers and mortgage lenders in the negotiation and drafting of purchase and sale agreements , preparation and review of mortgage loan documentation and have completed many thousands of purchases and sales of homes in the greater Hartford area. He has advised mortgage companies with respect to their licensure with the State of Connecticut Department of Banking. Mr. Kiel has also advised one of the largest real estate brokerage firms in the State with regard to significant governance matters.
Mr. Kiel received his undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut from which he graduated Cum Laude, with Distinction in Speech. The department is now called the School of Communications. He attended the University of Connecticut School of Law and the University of Connecticut School of Social Work and in 1983 he earned his Juris Doctor degree and a Masters in Social Work. Mr. Kiel is a member of the American Bar Association (Real Property and Trust and Estates Division), Connecticut Bar Association (Real Property, Trusts and Estates and Elder Law Sections) and the Hartford County Bar Association. He serves on a sub-committee of the Real Property Section of the Connecticut Bar Association that has developed a uniform contract to be used in residential transactions throughout the State of Connecticut. He is also a member of the Connecticut Mortgage Bankers Association where he serves as a member of the Closing and Compliance Committee. Mr. Kiel is a member of the Real Estate Finance Association, Connecticut Mortgage Association, and sits on the Board of Directors for the Farmington Chamber of Commerce and is active in other local Chambers as well. Mr. Kiel also serves on the Board of Managers for the Greater Hartford YMCA, Farmington Valley Branch and is a Vice President of the Men’s Club at the Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation in Simsbury, Connecticut. At the invitation of the Capital Region Health Consortium he has, over the past many years, conducted annual seminars reviewing employment agreements for the Reside and Fellows employed in the various hospitals throughout the Greater Hartford area
