John Tumelty specializes in handling complex civil and criminal matters involving state, federal, and local litigation. Matters include injury litigation matters against the largest firms in New York State and the world, as well as the federal government, state government, and local governments. Mr. Tumelty began as a line assistant and worked his way through the office to become the Deputy Bureau Chief in charge of the Investigations Unit and later a Trial Bureau responsible for overseeing staff attorneys in their handling of all felony cases from homicides to white collar offenses. He has taught at the Borough of Manhattan Community College as an Adjunct Professor and is a proud supporter of many charitable organizations, including St. Jude’s Research Hospital, Children’s International, Heifer International, Calvary Hospital, Smile Train, and the Boys & Girls Club of America. John received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, National Trial Lawyers Association, American Bar Association, New York County Trial Lawyers Association, New York County Bar Association, and the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys.
