MD WW/Press/July 27, 2015 –Dr. Susan Diane Rich, MD, MPH, with Therapeutic & Learning Centers, P-LLC, Child/Adolescent & Adult Psychiatry, was selected for inclusion in the forthcoming Top Doctors of North America 2015-16 edition of The Who’s Who Directories.

Dr. Rich provides an eclectic range of psychotherapies and medication management for children, adolescents and adults – incorporating meditation, nature, & animal therapy for neurodevelopmental disorders and anxiety. She is board certified in General Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology, holding medical licenses in the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia. She has been in the field for fifteen years.
For the past 22 years, her public health and clinical interest has been prevention and treatment of Neurodevelopmental Disorder associated with Prenatal Alcohol Exposure (ND-PAE), a condition that affects 1 in 20 American children. ND-PAE occurs as early as the third week after conception and can happen, as a result of unintended pregnancy and alcohol use. Dr. Rich provides evaluations for capital habeas and other forensic cases on a consultation basis, including juveniles and adults with documented prenatal alcohol exposure. Her nonprofit, 7th Generation Foundation aims to raise awareness about this preventable condition and develop vocational and housing opportunities for affected individuals. Her book, The Silent Epidemic: A Child Psychiatrist’s Journey beyond Death Row is currently in press with Lulu.com.
Dr. Rich received her MD and MPH in Health Policy & Administration, both from UNC-Chapel Hill. She also received her BS in Microbiology from NC State University, where she graduated Magna cum laude. She studied Adult Psychiatry at Georgetown Univ. and Child Psychiatry at the Children’s National Medical Ctr. Dr. Rich is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, member of the American Medical Association and American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, President-elect of the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Society of Greater Washington, Past Board Member of the National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, and member of the National Association of Professional Women. She received the Top Doctors Award in 2010 & 2015 for Washingtonian Magazine and in 2010 & 2012 Bethesda Magazine. From 2008-14, she received the Patients Choice Award and in 2009-2010, received the Top Psychiatrist recognition from Consumer Research Council of America.
