Ms. Hammar received her Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She received both a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) and Masters in Public Administration (M.P.A.) from the University of Baltimore. She is also an active member of the Maryland, District of Columbia, and Virginia Bar Associations. She served in the Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration, culminating in her position as Special Assistant to the Director of Policy for Civil Aviation Security at the FAA. In the private sector, Ms. Hammar has held management and general counsel positions at an emerging small business, a mid-sized government contracting firm, and a publicly-traded Fortune 1000 company. In these roles, Ms. Hammar provided strategic direction as well as legal advice regarding corporate compliance, contracts, and employment law. She has received awards for ethics, and is involved in charitable organizations, she was featured in Wall Street Select, International Business Times, The Network Journal and others.
