He was also a Juvenile Traffic Judge. Mr. Powers received his B.S. and J.D. from Louisiana State University. He is a member of Phi Delta Phi.

He is an author of several publications;  “Lessor’s Protection in Movable Leases,” 21 Louisiana Bar Journal 109; “The Law of Movable Leases,” 28 Louisiana Bar Journal 123. President – Louisiana State Bar Association, 1990-1991; Past President, Baton Rouge Area Chamber of Commerce; Mr. Powers honors are Outstanding Young Lawyer of Louisiana; Volunteer Activist; Outstanding Young Man of Baton Rouge; Louisiana State University Law School Hall of Fame.

Attorney Powers is married to Judith J. Powers and they have two children John Dale Powers, Jr.; and Dr. Denise Power Sellers.
