The accomplishments and achievements attained by Ms. Wendy Kaplan, in the field of Legal Services, warrants inclusion into the Top Attorneys of North America. Wendy Kaplan has focused her legal career on advancing civil rights. She has also concentrated on plaintiffs’ side employment litigation, discrimination in housing and education, and is an experienced family law practitioner. One of her most notable cases was the recent victory she and Anne Glennon won at the U.S. Supreme Court that vindicated the rights of a five year old girl who was sexually harassed by an older boy on the school bus, and will help other girls and women advance their struggle for equal rights in education. Her other career highlights include being the first lawyer to best Harvard in an employment case and serving as lead counsel in O’Connell v. Chasdi, which both established that women have a constitutional right to be free of sexual harassment and expanded employer liability to enable employees to sue coworkers for intentional wrongdoing. Ms. Kaplan also won what was, at the time, the largest award in MCAD history in a race/gender case, and was successful in defeating Lotus Development Corporation in a high visibility age discrimination case. Superior Court Judge Thomas E. Connolly describes her as “a leader in the advancement of the law in employment and sexual discrimination in the Massachusetts courts on behalf of her clients.” Wendy received her B.A. from Columbia University and her J.D. from B.U. Law School. She was chosen as one of New England’s most successful plaintiffs’ employment lawyers by her peers in 2006.
