The accomplishments attained by Mr. Robert M. Langer, in the field of Legal Services, warrants inclusion into the Top Attorneys of North America.

Bob Langer is a partner in Wiggin and Dana’s Litigation Department and co-chair of the firm’s Antitrust and Consumer Protection Practice Group. He is involved in all aspects of antitrust, consumer protection, and trade regulation counseling and litigation, including class actions, representing clients in both federal and state courts, and before the Federal Trade Commission, the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice, as well as offices of state attorneys general throughout the United States. Mr. Langer has participated in more than twenty cases in the Connecticut Supreme Court and the Connecticut Appellate Court involving interpretation of the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act (“CUTPA”) and the Connecticut Antitrust Act, and is the co-author of the leading treatise on CUTPA, “Unfair Trade Practices, Business Torts and Antitrust,” Volume 12 of the Connecticut Practice Series published by Thomson Reuters. He also participated in several landmark antitrust cases in the U.S. Supreme Court, as well as important cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Prior to joining Wiggin and Dana, Mr. Langer served as the Assistant Attorney General in charge of both antitrust and consumer protection in the Connecticut Attorney General’s Office. From 1990-92, he was honored to serve as the Chair of the Multistate Antitrust Task Force of the National Association of Attorneys General coordinating the states’ antitrust efforts with both the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission.

Mr. Langer also regularly lectures and writes on antitrust, consumer protection, constitutional law and health care topics, and at the invitation of the Congressionally-established Antitrust Modernization Commission, he was one of three participants to testify on the subject of the state action immunity doctrine in 2005. He has also taught antitrust, consumer protection and constitutional law for four decades at the University of Connecticut School of Business Administration, MBA program, and at the University of Connecticut Law School.

Bob received his A.B. from Franklin & Marshall College and his J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law. He is a member of the American Bar Association’s Section of Antitrust Law, where he has held numerous positions over almost three decades, including Finance Officer and Chair of both the Consumer Protection and State Enforcement Committees, the Connecticut Bar Association where he has chaired its Antitrust Section, the Connecticut Bar Foundation, where he served on its Board of Directors, the Bloomberg BNA Antitrust & Trade Regulation Report Advisory Board, as well as the Matthew Bender Antitrust Report Board of Editors.

Mr. Langer has received numerous honors during his long career including the Medal of Excellence from Uconn Law School, awarded rarely in the Medal’s forty year history, the Burton Award for Distinguished Legal Writing, and special recognition awards from the ABA Section of Antitrust Law, the Connecticut Bar Foundation and the National Association of Attorneys General.
