Top Attorney – Allen A. Ternent
Atchison, KS WW/Press/July 10, 2020 –Allen A. Ternent, Attorney with Ternent Law Office, was selected for inclusion into the Top Attorneys of North America 2020-2021 edition by The Who’s Whos Directories.
Allen earned his Juris Doctorate from Washburn University School of Law in 1993 where he distinguished himself in trial advocacy and oral arguments competitions, graded onto Law Journal, and graduated in the top 10 percent of his class. Allen has now practiced law in state and federal courts for nearly 25 years and describes himself, first and foremost, as a “trial attorney.” In a career long commitment to criminal law, Allen has successfully defended or prosecuted well over a thousand criminal cases of every type and severity from murder to misdemeanor.
After serving as County Prosecutor, Allen returned to private practice and the “defense side” in 1997. Allen’s practice focus is on criminal defense and major civil litigation. In recent years his civil practice has concentrated on mining litigation, regulatory and civil rights law. Though Allen is happiest trying cases to juries, he has successfully practiced in appellate courts for many years.
Allen is, or has been, a member of the Kansas Trial Lawyers Association, the Kansas Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Inns of Court. Subsequent to earning his Juris Doctorate, Allen earned a diploma from the National Institute of Trial Advocacy and has completed Trial Lawyers College training offered through the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. Allen has also taught law related courses at Washburn University as adjunct faculty. Licensed in Kansas and Missouri, Allen has litigated cases in numerous other states pro hac vice and enjoys assisting other law firms as trial counsel.
