The accomplishments and achievements attained by Mr. Peter Baskin, in the field of Legal Services, warrants inclusion into the Top Attorneys of North America. For forty-nine years Mr. Baskin has practiced criminal law, personal injury litigation, traffic and DUI law, trials and appeals. He is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of the United States, the Supreme Court of Virginia, the United States 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. Mr. Baskin has been a lecturer at Continuing Legal Education Seminars on Defending DUI Cases and Civil and Criminal Trial Technique, an invited speaker in public schools on Law Day, an invited speaker at the Arlington County, Virginia Bar Association observance of the 200th Anniversary of the U.S. Constitution in 1987, a guest speaker on The Law of Arrest at the Northern Virginia Police Training Academy, and an invited judge of Student Moot Court Trial and Appellate Argument Competitions at George Mason University Law School, Arlington, Virginia. He was also lead counsel in the Supreme Court of Virginia in a 1974 decision on the Law of Arrest, which continues to be the law in Virginia. Mr. Baskin received his B.S. from the University of Hartford in 1964 and his J.D. from George Washington University, National Law Center in Washington D.C. in 1967. He was a Deputy Clerk of the Arlington Circuit Court from 1966-1967, an Assistant Commonwealth Attorney from 1968-1972 (Criminal Prosecutions), and a Commissioner in Chancery for the Arlington Circuit Court from 1974-2011. Mr. Baskin is a member of the Virginia State Bar, past member of the American Trial Lawyers Association and Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, and a former lawyer panelist appointed by the Virginia Supreme Court to the Virginia Medical Malpractice review panel. He is the author of “A Toast to Silence” How to Avoid Becoming Another Victim of Deceptive Police Tactics by Knowing When and How to Use the Power of Silence. His Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating is AV Pre-Eminent.
