Morrison is an experienced litigator and legal counselor who successfully represents employees, independent contractors and other workers who have been victims of employment abuse. As a female, African American, Black employment attorney with first-hand experience with unlawful treatment, Ms. Morrison fights against all forms of unlawful workplace harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful terminations of employment and breach of contract matters. Ms. Morrison also successfully litigates employee claims of disability discrimination and retaliation under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), claims of unpaid wages and overtime under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and the New York Labor Law, and negotiates severance packages. Ms. Morrison has also assisted employers in establishing, developing and implementing effective employment policies and practices that help enhance relations with their employees and minimize the risk of costly lawsuits.
Prior to opening her own practice several years ago, Ms. Morrison served as a judicial clerk in the Southern District of New York and worked in prominent New York City law firms. Ms. Morrison also successfully lobbied on behalf of employees to expand coverage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to include persons with learning disabilities and other impairments, lobbied against forced arbitration clauses in employment contracts and lobbied against the Gross v. FBL Financial decision that heightened plaintiffs’ burden in establishing age discrimination claims under the ADEA. She currently has an Avvo rating of 8.4 Excellent. Ms. Morrison received her B.A. Magna Cum Laude from Columbia University and her J.D. from Cornell Law School. She is a member of the New York City Bar Association and the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA), an organization of attorneys who represent employees against unlawful employment abuse.
